This has been one of my proudest moments. I am a staunch supporter of Ugly Food Movement, which promotes the use of disfigured bruised fresh produce and stopping food wastage. About a third of the planet’s food goes to waste, often because of its looks. … Every year some six billion pounds of U.S. fruits and vegetables go unharvested or unsold, often for aesthetic reasons. … Across cultures, food waste goes against the moral grain. I am a firm believer in good food movement and like to grow my own produce. Wasting food is a huge problem in my country, India and while growing up, my mother had instilled the non-food wastage habits in me. Thus, consuming the seemingly unsightly produce and ugly sounding food like rabbit, oxtail etc are some of my household traditions.

.So on the World Food Day 2017, I was more than happy when the former American President Barrack Obama promoted my support for Ugly Food Movement on Twitter. It always feels good to be appreciated and more so when it comes from a much-respected world leader and supporter for Good Food Movement like the Obama family.
