Writing about HongKong took a lot of efforts and I was surprised by the vast array of my travel memories surrounding it.That’s why I decided to compare HongKong with a Rubik’s Cube.Puzzling,invigorating,paradoxical and totally mind blowing HongKong even for most seasoned travelers is a roller coaster ride.Swish,glamorous,jet setting and fiercely independent about her identity,Hong Kong is one difficult to please diva.However her real beauty is more than skin deep and lies in timeless patches of old world charm which persists in pockets across the city.Her incredibly rich diversity,frolicking colourful markets,bustling street food vendors,surge of humanity and of course her invaluable historical heritage which is an unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures make her irresistible.But most of all,its her headstrong,proud and deeply rooted to the soil citizens who are her biggest strength.
HongKong residents lead an extremely bamboozling dual life and walk graciously over the perplexing cultural tightrope.In a city where commercialism assault happens mercilessly at every step,they accept it gracefully while clinging religiously to their traditional heritage.Such beautiful seamless confluence of old and new is best epitomized by the people of Hong Kong and hats off to their boundless energy and enthusiasm.
My Hong Kong trips were mostly during my flying career where I happened to experience the ultra luxe cult of this uber glamourous city and thrice as a backpacker,when the true spirit of the city enveloped me lovingly and left unforgettable travel impressions.This post is dedicated to very lovely people Peter Dino and SteFan Lcw,without whom my longest and most extensive visit wouldn’t have been so good.Thank you guys for being such great buddies and so many fun filled moments.You are the true ambassadors of HongKong.
